Marion County Jail Roster Overview
The official Marion County jail roster is the Public Safety Cloud JailTracker roster linked from the Marion County Sheriff's Office navigation. It covers people in Marion County Jail custody, which can include pretrial detainees, sentenced local inmates, city prisoners accepted by the jail, and persons otherwise committed to the sheriff's custody. It should be the first stop when the question is whether someone is currently in the county jail.
The roster is not a complete criminal-history system. It does not replace Kansas Case Search, KBI criminal history, KASPER, BOP, ICE ODLS, or a direct records request. A person may disappear from the Marion County inmate records search after release, transfer, sentencing, or correction of a name entry. For time-sensitive decisions, call Marion County Jail at 620-382-2144 or ask at the sheriff's office public counter.
Search Marion County Jail Records
Open the official Marion County JailTracker roster in a browser that can run JavaScript. Research found that the public app rendered as a Blazor WebAssembly shell in text-only inspection, so the visible field labels can depend on the live browser view. Start with the name, then compare the result with any known court, arrest, or bond information.
- Open the Marion County JailTracker roster from the sheriff's official roster link.
- Search by last name and add a first name if the roster returns several people.
- Use any available current-only, released-since, facility, or search-type option to narrow results.
- Open the person profile if the row is clickable and read charges, bond, release, hold, and booking fields.
- Call the jail before posting bond, traveling for a visit, or relying on a release time.
Marion County Roster Search Fields
The county roster search-field table below is partial because live inmate rows were not captured in static research. The app model did expose useful names and filters. Treat this as a practical field guide, not a promise that every label will appear exactly the same for every public session.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Unspecified | App model exposes lastNameSearchText. |
| First Name | Text | Unspecified | App model exposes firstNameSearchText. |
| Search Type | Option | Unspecified | Model includes SearchType and current-inmate options. |
| Released Since | Filter | Unspecified | Model exposes ReleasedSinceValue and final release data. |
| Facility | Grid value | Unspecified | Facility fields can display when enabled. |
| Captcha | Challenge | Conditional | Captcha validation is included in the public app model. |
Marion County Inmate Profile Fields
Marion County inmate records on JailTracker can include operational fields from the booking record and charge arrays. Because the public text inspection did not confirm a live Marion County profile, use the fields as a platform inventory. The jail or court is still the better source when a bond amount, charge status, court date, or hold affects release.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | First, middle, last, and display name fields. |
| Arrest No. | An arrest identifier when shown by the agency. |
| Booking number | A booking identifier if Marion County enables it in the grid. |
| Original book date/time | When the person was first booked into the roster system. |
| Final release date/time | Release timing if the app displays released people. |
| Charges | Description, code, court type, case number, warrant number, counts, status, and dates. |
| Bond | Bond type and bond amount fields, subject to court changes. |
| Holds | Hold type, date, and expiration fields for other agencies or orders. |
| Image | Offender image fields exist, but public display for Marion County was not confirmed. |

Find County State Federal Inmates
Marion County inmate records split by custody authority. Local jail records are held by the sheriff. Sentenced state prison and supervision records are searched in KASPER. Federal inmates are searched through BOP, and immigration detainees through ICE ODLS. Kansas VINE adds custody-status notifications and is useful when a victim or family member needs notice of a change.
This split is common after a Marion County arrest. A person can start in the county jail, appear in court, post bond, serve a short local sentence, or later move to KDOC after sentencing. A federal or immigration detainer may appear as a hold in a jail profile without making the county roster the main federal record source. The lookup should follow the agency that has custody now.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | Important Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or short local sentence | Marion County JailTracker | Covers county jail custody, not full court history. |
| Sentenced Kansas custody | KASPER | KDOC says data updates each working day. |
| Federal prisoner | BOP Find an Inmate | Covers federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detainee | ICE ODLS | JavaScript may be required. |
| Custody notification | Kansas VINE | Search and notification system, also reachable at 866-574-8463. |
Booking Process in Marion County
Marion County does not publish a full booking-process manual, but the local rules and Kansas law support the basic path. After arrest, a person may be transported to the Marion County Jail if accepted for custody. K.S.A. 19-1930 says a jail keeper is not required to receive or detain a person in arresting-agency custody until the person is medically examined if the person appears unconscious, seriously ill, seriously injured, or seriously impaired by alcohol or drugs.
Once processed into the jail, inmates may choose up to four approved visitors. Reporting inmates have stricter local rules. They may bring only three paperback books and prescribed medical necessities. Medications must be bubble-packed with name, medication, and dosage. Medical equipment needs a doctor's fax to 620-382-3441 describing proper use. A person reporting while under the influence can be refused and reported to court.
Bond and Release Records
Bond entries on the jail roster are operational. Court orders control the actual release conditions. Kansas pretrial release law, K.S.A. 22-2802, covers appearance bond, cash bond, personal recognizance, and release conditions. Marion County official pages did not publish a bond payment counter or accepted bond payment methods, so call the jail before going to post bond.
Release may still be delayed after a bond amount appears. Other holds, court paperwork, intoxication, medical issues, another county warrant, KDOC supervision action, federal hold, or immigration detainer can block release. Bond refunds and forfeitures are court matters, not just jail-counter questions.
Marion County Jail Visitation
Marion County Jail visitation is in person on two weekdays. Call before visiting because the jail assigns an inmate a visitation date at incarceration. Visitors must be on the approved list, and the sheriff, corrections officer, or representative may cancel a visit or remove a visitor for rule violations or security concerns.
| Day | Hours | Type / Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. | In-person visitation; call first. |
| Thursday | 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. | In-person visitation; same approval rules. |
| Approved list | Assigned at processing | Up to four approved visitors per inmate. |
| Visit size | 25 minutes | Two visitors may visit at one time. |
| Minors | During approved visit | Must be with a legal guardian. |
Mail and Commissary Records
Mail and money rules affect whether a person can receive letters or buy commissary after booking. General mail goes to the inmate's name, C/O Marion County Jail, 202 S 4th, Marion, KS 66861. Non-attorney mail is inspected before delivery, and no mail is delivered on weekends or holidays. Legal mail is opened in the inmate's presence.
| Service | Rule |
|---|---|
| In-person deposit | Cash only at the front entrance from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding county holidays. |
| Mail deposit | Prepaid money order or U.S. government check payable to Marion County Inmate Account. |
| Not accepted by mail | Cash, personal checks, payroll checks, and credit card numbers. |
| Commissary | Weekly purchases; restriction status limits purchases to hygiene items. |
Note: Confirm custody with Marion County Jail before sending funds, because release or transfer can change the account route.
Request Marion County Jail Records
If a booking record is not visible online, the fallback is a Kansas Open Records Act request to the sheriff's office or the correct custodian. Ask for a specific record by name, booking date, case number, arrest number, or other identifier. K.S.A. 45-218 sets the general response framework, but K.S.A. 45-221 exemptions can limit disclosure for investigation, privacy, security, juvenile, sealed, or expunged material.
The sheriff's Reports page also lists accident report and photo fees, and it identifies the Marion County Attorney as the custodian for criminal history. Those records are different from a jail roster entry. For charges filed after an arrest, use Marion County court records after a jail arrest and the Kansas Case Search route.
When asking for a Marion County inmate record, separate custody facts from court facts. The sheriff can address jail booking, release, visitation, mail, and local custody questions. The court record is the better source for filed charges and case outcomes. KASPER is the better source once a person has moved into KDOC custody or supervision.
